In the Iranian education system, textbooks are recognized as one of the main pillars of learning, but are these books really serving the students? It seems that these books have merely become an additional burden in the classrooms, and teachers, due to time constraints, cannot adequately address their content and accompany students in the learning process.
Challenges for Teachers and Students
Instead of being able to fully and deeply engage with the content of the textbooks, teachers are pressured by time to finish the book. This pressure not only reduces the quality of education but also distances students from real and meaningful learning. In these conditions, students do not establish a connection with the content of the books and only settle for memorizing superficial information.
Is It Time for Change?
The main question is whether it is not time to focus on the quality of education instead of quantity? Can the Ministry of Education not create an environment where students engage more eagerly in learning by revising the content of textbooks and teaching methods? It seems that textbooks need to shed their skin and move towards more innovative approaches instead of relying on traditional methods.
Textbooks should become tools that empower students in the learning process, rather than forcing them into superficial and shallow learning. This need for change is essential not only for teachers but also for a brighter future for students and society.
