In the fast-paced digital world, VOD platforms like Filimo, Filmnet, Namava, and Charkhooneh are recognized as key players in the home entertainment sector. However, these platforms have now expressed their grievances in a letter to the President regarding the delays and ambiguities in the issuance of production and broadcasting licenses, considering it a serious barrier to the development of their industry.

Serious challenges for investment

In their letter, these VODs emphasized that the lack of transparency in issuing licenses has discouraged investors from entering this field, consequently leading to a stagnation in job creation within this industry. They called for a binding deadline for SATRA to respond to this issue. It seems that resorting to judicial and security channels has become the only way for SATRA to deal with home entertainment platforms.

Cultural regulation: Who is responsible?

Additionally, the letter pointed out a key issue that regulation in the cultural sphere should be the responsibility of the cultural authority, not the state broadcasting organization, which acts as a competitor to this industry. This issue highlights a contradiction in the country's cultural policymaking and indicates a need for reevaluation.

Given the current trend, it appears that VODs are striving to make their voices heard by officials and are emphasizing the necessity for transparency in issuing licenses, demanding improved conditions for investment and employment in this field. Will SATRA respond to this call and find a way to resolve this crisis?
