The dredging of 45 kilometers of the Ilam flood control dam will be completed within 10 days. Nazem Karzani, the waste management director of Ilam municipality, in an interview with our reporter, pointed out the progress of dredging operations in critical areas, emphasizing that some water transfer routes are ready to accept runoff. This action is essential to reduce the risk of flooding and better manage seasonal rains in Ilam province.
Necessity of Continuing Dredging Operations
Karzani stated that in several areas, the necessity of continuing dredging and clearing the routes has been observed, and based on the planned arrangements, these actions will be ready for the rainy season. He also referred to the impact of the El Niño phenomenon on weather patterns and rainfall in Ilam province, saying: "The El Niño phenomenon can affect the amount and distribution of rainfall in this region, and we must be prepared for these changes."

Preparation for Seasonal Rains
The waste management director of Ilam municipality emphasized that Ilam province, due to significant rainfall and a history of runoff and flooding, needs preparation before the onset of rains, noting: "Preparing waterways and removing obstacles in the water flow path plays an important role in reducing the risk of flooding and potential damages."
He also stated that dredging operations are being carried out diligently, and with the completion of this plan, the city of Ilam will be ready to face seasonal rains. Karzani added: "The risk of flooding in urban streets will be minimized, and citizens can face the rainy season with more peace of mind."
