Amir Hayat Moghadam, a member of parliament, criticized the unreasonable prices of gasoline cars in Iran in controversial statements. He stated that compared to many other countries, car prices are significantly higher, and this issue has led to public dissatisfaction.

A Concerning Phenomenon

Hayat Moghadam emphasized: "Some ordinary cars in Iran are sold for several times the price of similar models in global markets." This parliament member criticized the country's economic and import policies, pointing to the negative consequences of these price increases on people's livelihoods and said: "This situation is not only detrimental to consumers but also reflects a kind of management weakness in this area."

He also referred to the car import process and said: "Once we charge a person for importing a car, then we say your car is luxury and you have to pay taxes; what is really going on?" These statements from the parliament member clearly indicate his dissatisfaction with the tax system and import tariffs, which seem to benefit only a select few.

Concerns About the Future

Hayat Moghadam further added: "With such prices, what guarantee is there that people can purchase cars?" He believes that economic policies should be reformed in a way that prices move towards becoming more reasonable and that pressure on low-income groups is reduced.

It seems that Hayat Moghadam's statements are not only the voice of parliamentary representatives but also the voice of the people. In a situation where prices have skyrocketed, it remains to be seen whether officials will heed these criticisms or continue to remain immersed in their own world.
