The head of the infectious diseases group at the Yazd Health Center announced the identification of 9 confirmed cases of Crimean-Congo fever in Yazd province, stating that one patient has also lost their life. According to available reports, out of 31 confirmed cases of Crimean-Congo fever in the country, 9 cases belong to Yazd.

Majgan Minouspehr, the head of the infectious diseases group at the Yazd Health Center, said: "Last year, 14 confirmed cases of Crimean-Congo fever were recorded in Yazd province. This indicates that Yazd province ranks first in the country for the number of cases of this disease." She added: "Crimean-Congo fever is transmitted through infected livestock, blood and secretions from animals, as well as contaminated meat, and it is very important for people to be cautious when purchasing and consuming meat."

Minouspehr advised people to avoid purchasing meat from unauthorized centers and to keep meat in the refrigerator for at least 24 to 48 hours. Additionally, she emphasized the necessity of refraining from slaughtering livestock outside of slaughterhouses, stating: "This action can minimize the risks associated with disease transmission."
