The Yasuj-Isfahan route is one of the most important communication paths in the country, facing serious safety issues and a lack of funding. This route, which lies on the north-south communication path, bears the burden of inter-provincial traffic and the transportation of goods, while also facing fatal accidents due to traffic violations and safety weaknesses.
Fatal Accidents and the Need for Reforms
In May of this year, the governor of Dena announced that out of a total of 88 kilometers of the Yasuj-Isfahan route, 76 kilometers are located within the Dena County. Parts of this route are still two-lane, and due to traffic violations, dangerous overtaking, and the movement of pickup trucks, it has repeatedly become the site of fatal accidents. For example, in the most recent fatal accident that occurred on the evening of September 21, a collision between a Peugeot 405 and a trailer resulted in the death of seven people and injuries to three others.

Securing Funding and Incomplete Projects
The director general of roads and urban development in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad stated that over the past year, more than 57 kilometers of highways and three-lane roads have been added to the province's network. These projects are essential for increasing safety and reducing risks on the province's communication routes. However, the deputy coordinator of urban affairs in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad governorate emphasized the need for national funding to complete construction projects, stating that provincial budgets are in no way sufficient to widen the Yasuj-Semiram route.
Shahamat added: To advance this project, we need an urgent and serious injection of national funding, and provincial officials are pursuing resource acquisition at the level of the relevant ministries. This issue highlights the high importance of the Yasuj-Isfahan route in improving safety and facilitating traffic in the province.
The Role of Pickup Trucks and Safety Challenges
The head of the road police in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad also spoke about pickup trucks in the province, stating: The roads in this province are a major artery between four large provinces of the country, through which the highest volume of traffickers pass. In the past 20 days, 313 pickup trucks have been seized, indicating the high volume of traffic of these vehicles on the province's routes. These vehicles, due to their high speed and dangerous maneuvers, pose a serious threat to road safety.
Now, a fundamental question faces the provincial management and the authorities of national transportation: Why does a route with such a communication role and traffic volume still face funding limitations and two-lane sections for completing its four-lane segments? Given the statistics of accidents and the need for improved safety, accelerating funding and implementing road construction projects must be prioritized.
