Nowshahr - While regional and provincial management introduces "agriculture" as the only pillar of the ecosystem's survival and the economic identity of western Mazandaran, field realities and development indicators tell a different story. The "anti-industrial" policies, justified by the protection of agricultural lands, have not only failed to strengthen production foundations but have, conversely, marginalized agricultural lands before they could join the industrial cycle and handed them over to unregulated developers for villa construction.

Conflict Between Policies and Field Realities

In recent years, significant changes have been observed in the agricultural lands of Mazandaran. Specifically, agricultural lands are rapidly turning into luxury villas. This transformation has arisen due to misguided policies and a lack of attention to the real needs of agriculture. While agriculture is recognized as the foundation of the economy in this region, investments have been directed towards unproductive projects and villa construction.

Economic and Social Consequences

This trend has severely impacted the livelihoods of farmers, contributing to unemployment and economic instability. Alongside this, with the increase in villa construction, natural resources have also come under pressure, and the region's ecosystems are at risk. Local farmers who have continued their work for years now face new challenges, and many have been forced to leave their jobs.

Given these conditions, it is necessary for officials to reconsider their policies and emphasize the importance of preserving and developing agriculture. Otherwise, the economic and social future of this region will face serious risks. Measures must be taken to preserve agricultural lands and invest in production and sustainable development instead of villa construction.
