Arsalan Shakouri reported a 20 percent progress in the asphalt overlay project of the Miyandoab–Sarchem axis and announced: This project is one of the important maintenance and improvement plans for the roads of West Azerbaijan province, and the contractor's activities are currently underway.
Project Details for Asphalt Overlay
Shakouri stated: In this project, 25 kilometers of the Miyandoab–Sarchem axis will be asphalted, and a budget of 80 billion tomans has been allocated for its implementation. According to him, the improvement of this axis was a significant demand from the local people, and with the follow-ups made, the execution operations have begun, and with the completion of the project, the condition of the asphalt surface in this area will be improved.

Increasing Safety and Facilitating Traffic
The Director General of Road Maintenance and Transportation of West Azerbaijan added: The implementation of the asphalt overlay on this route, considering its importance for public traffic, will play a significant role in increasing safety and facilitating passage. Shakouri emphasized that it is necessary for the execution operations of the project to adhere to quality and technical standards.
He pointed out the necessity of improving the conditions of this axis and said: The improvement and enhancement of the road surface quality, in addition to improving traffic quality, plays an important role in increasing the safety of road users. This issue becomes even more significant considering the volume of traffic on this route and the tragic accidents we have witnessed in recent years on this axis.
Contract Duration and Project Progress
Shakouri continued: The contract duration for this project has been set at 24 months, and the asphalt overlay operations on the axis are currently underway. The improvement of the Miyandoab–Sarchem axis has been a long-standing demand of the local people, and the implementation of this project is part of the efforts to enhance road quality, increase safety, and improve road service levels in the province's road maintenance agenda.
He clarified: The execution operations of the project have so far achieved 20 percent physical progress, and its implementation process is being monitored continuously by the province's road maintenance team to ensure that with the completion of the project, better conditions for traffic on this axis are provided.
Importance of the Miyandoab–Sarchem Axis
The Miyandoab–Sarchem axis is one of the old road construction projects in southern West Azerbaijan, which has been pursued in several segments, and parts of this route have been under traffic in previous years. This axis, approximately 181 kilometers long, connects Miyandoab and surrounding areas to the Sarchem route, and due to its role in the transportation of passengers and goods, the improvement and enhancement of the road's condition is considered a significant demand of the region.
