Answer and Solution Method
To solve this puzzle, you need to use the laws of exponents in mathematics. The first move is to remove the horizontal matchstick above the number 7 (in the fraction) to turn the number 7 into the number 1. In the second move, remove the vertical matchstick on the left and top of the number 9 (in the denominator) to turn the number 9 into the number 3.
After these two moves, transfer the two removed matchsticks to the right side of the equation. Place one of the matchsticks horizontally above the right side of the number 3 (the negative sign) and position the second matchstick vertically next to it to create a negative exponent of 1.
With this rearrangement, the left side of the fraction forms one third and the right side represents 3 to the power of negative 1. According to mathematical laws, one third equals 3 to the power of negative 1, and thus the equality will be completely correct.
