Abbas Araqchi, our Foreign Minister, traveled to China to review bilateral relations and developments related to Iran and the United States. This trip comes at a time when Iran-China relations and global developments, especially in the context of diplomacy with the United States, are of particular importance.
A Strategic and Decisive Trip by Araqchi
Abbas Golroo, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, said: "This trip is a strategic and decisive journey aimed at enhancing economic, trade, and diplomatic relations between Iran and China." He also pointed out the existing shortcomings in some areas and noted that these problems could be resolved through diplomatic consultations.
China as Iran's Strategic Partner
Golroo stated that China's policy regarding Iran is independent and not influenced by the United States, adding: "China's strategy is to develop relations with Iran as a strategic partner." He also referred to the recent meeting between the presidents of Iran and China on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, considering it a reflection of the importance of the two countries' relations in the field of multilateral cooperation.
According to this parliament member, China can play a role in the dialogue between Iran and the United States. He reminded that the Chinese have previously played positive roles in this regard, and the Americans have specific calculations in their relations with China due to its power.
China's Role in Regional Diplomacy
Golroo continued: "Trump's trip to China showed that China is a major and decisive power, and this power influences U.S. policies." In his view, China's role can help advance diplomacy and dialogue in the region. Additionally, this country can act as a gateway for Iran to enter Eastern markets.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening Iran's embassy in China and said: "This embassy should be more active and strengthened in terms of human resources, especially in commerce and economics." Golroo also referred to Iran's "special file" for China and expressed hope that the relations between the two countries would receive more attention.
Ultimately, given recent developments and Araqchi's trip, it is expected that Iran-China relations will be strengthened as a strategic alliance against external pressures, creating greater economic and diplomatic capacities for both countries.
