J.D. Vance claimed in an interview with an American media outlet that Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz will be significantly weakened by the time of the U.S. presidential elections.
Return of Traffic to the Strait of Hormuz
He also noted that traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, which is considered one of the most important energy passageways in the world, has now returned to over 50 percent of its normal level. This comes as shipping tracking data shows that only 11 commercial ships have passed through this passage in the last 24 hours, while the average daily traffic before the war was about 130 ships.

Prediction of War's End
Vance, referring to the uncertainty in the future of the war, stated that Donald Trump, as the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, will determine the time to end the conflicts. He described the next phase of the war as preventing the rebuilding of Iran's capabilities and added that Washington is "not participating in offensive operations." Vance predicted that the war would end "immediately after the elections," as he claimed that Iran would no longer have the capacity to continue it.
In recent months, the United States has secretly escorted commercial tankers and turned off the transmitters and receivers of some tankers to prevent attacks. The Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20 percent of the world's oil transported by sea passes, remains one of the main centers of tension in the U.S.-Iran war.
